Obituary: Yerxa, Jane Anne

Jane Anne

Peacefully passed, and entered Heaven on March 12, 2016.

Janie was born July 3, 1933 in Wichita, KS to the late Laurence A. and Mary Jane (Nation) Figge.

Mom attended Wichita High School East, graduating in 1951.

She furthered her education with a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Art, Fashion Illustration as a Jayhawk at Kansas University.

She was a member of Gamma Alpha Chi.

On a blind date, she met Jay Yerxa, who would become her husband in June 1956.

Jay was in the Navy, and soon received orders to move to Massachusetts, where they had their first son Jeffrey Todd.

After the Navy, Janie and Jay moved back to Moses Lake, WA where their two other children were born, James Jay and Jonathan (Jack) Allan.

Janie and Jay moved to Spokane in 1965, when Jay was hired by the WA State Department of Transportation.

Janie kept busy with the boys, volunteering at their schools.

Janie was also an active member in the art community.

She was a member of the River Ridge Association of Fine Arts, Stanek House Art Center, and the Spokane Watercolor Society.

Janie was also a faithful follower of God, as a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Jay A. Yerxa, and is survived by her three sons Jeff, Jim and Jack; six grandchildren, Aaron, Alyssa, Nick, Randi, Alex, and Kade; and two great-grandchildren, Lylah and Lyndee.
