One dead, one injured in crash near Rathdrum

A man died and a juvenile was seriously injured early Saturday when their car crashed and rolled several times in the area of East Chilco road and North Hope Valley Road near Rathdrum.

A witness saw the crash just before 2 a.m. and called 911. Both occupants were ejected from the car. The road was closed for several hours while the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.

The names of the crash victims have not yet been released. The juvenile was reportedly in stable condition at Kootenai Health Saturday morning.
