Born Fumiko Sugikawa on December 9, 1923 in Portland Oregon, Fumi Uyeji passed away on April 5, 2016 in Spokane, WA.
While visiting Spokane with her family, Fumi lost her balance fracturing her hip and arm on April 2nd.
Not being a good candidate for surgery, Fumi passed away peacefully in hospice care.
Fumi and her husband Kam of over 65 years raised two children, Les and Cheryl in Spokane.
She was a long time member of the Spokane Buddhist Temple, heading and participating in many events of the Temple through the years before she and Kam moved to Vancouver, Washington three years ago.
Fumi is survived by her husband Kam Uyeji, Vancouver, Washington; son Les Uyeji, Vancouver, Washington; daughter Cheryl Uyeji, Seattle, Washington; and sister Yoshi Hiroo, Seattle, Washington.
