MARTIN, Ida

Ida Martin passed away on April 9, 2016 at Sun Terrace Assisted Living in Prosser, WA.

Ida was born on December 22, 1933 in Gering, Nebraska to Ed and Hester Stockton.

She was the youngest of 12 children.

She graduated from Mission High School in St. Ignatius, Montana in 1952.

She married Kenneth (Bud) Martin on June 21, 1953, they were married for 50 years.
During the early years of their marriage they lived in Missoula, MT, Frankfurt Germany, Coeur D’ Alene, ID and Sandpoint, ID.

In Sandpoint Ida ran the family business - Sandpoint Laundry.

They lived in Sandpoint from 1966-1972.

The family then moved to Spokane Valley, WA moving from there in 1989 to retire in Liberty Lake, WA.

Ida worked for Mutual of New York and retired in 1989.


Ida was involved with her children’s activities by being a Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader, Sunday school teacher, and chaperone for many events.

She spent countless hours volunteering for the Spokane Valley Elks.

She loved helping at the Children’s Christmas event, Easter Egg Hunt, and the Purple Bubble Ball to name just a few of the activities.

She was honored as Woman of the Year for her dedication to the organization.

Ida belonged to a quilting group and loved meeting weekly with other quilters.

She was proud of the quilts that they made and donated to different organizations.

She loved making quilts, pillow covers, wall hangings and table cloths for her family.


Ida is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son Ken (Jane) Martin of Leavenworth, KS, her daughter Clare (Stewart) Padelford of Prosser, WA, three grandchildren, David Martin, Robert Martin and Layne Padelford, two great-grandchildren, her sister Alice Trosper of Billings, MT, and her very special friend Jim Hogan of Newman Lake, WA.
Services will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Prosser, WA on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church Youth Ministries.
