Obituary: Scheller, Irvin And Shirley

Irvin Scheller was born in Walla Walla, WA and passed away Sunday, April 10 at the age of 91.

Irv lived in Odessa and Ritzville, graduating from Ritzville High School in 1943.

He served in the US Army from December 1944 to November 1946, reaching the rank of Platoon Sergeant with Company L of the 34th Infantry serving in the occupation forces of Japan.
Irv and Shirley met in Ritzville, and married on November 27, 1948.

They lived in Ritzville until 1951, moving then to Spokane.

Irv worked as a Roll Grinder for Kaiser for 30 years, and then in retirement began Irv’s Antiques, buying and selling primitive antiques and kept busy with this until just a few years ago.

He also enjoyed spending time with family at Twin Echo…spending countless hours on the water, either taking the kids skiing or fishing in the early morning hours.

He also loved his yard and for many years tended his dahlias and later his roses.
He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley; survived by his children Steve Scheller (and partner Dennis Dillin); Susan Gunderson (and husband Brian); granddaughter Erika Gunderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank his caregivers during his time at home, Senior Helpers, and Chris; and the staff and nurses at Spokane Valley Good Samaritan who took such good care of him during the past month.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, April 18th at 1:00pm at the Pines Mausoleum.

Viewing will be Saturday, April 16th from 1:30 - 4:00pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines, Spokane Valley, WA.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Spokane Valley Good Samaritan, 17121 E. 8th Ave., Spokane Valley, WA 99016.
