Why risk losing Logue?

I’ve been following the controversy over the selection of the police ombudsman. I’m in Spangle, so I really don’t have a dog in the fight, but I do have a couple observations:

1. Presently they have Bart Logue, the interim, with whom everyone is pleased. He was vetted, has performed admirably and is available. However, they risk losing him soon.

2. The commission wishes to wait for Raheel Humayan, who was not their first choice, who is not available, and is not experienced in the position and doesn’t possess the same qualifications as Logue.

Am I missing something here? How long is the commission going to risk losing Logue to another agency?
