Age 58

GUHLKE, Craig Allen
(Age 58)

Craig passed away on April 8, 2016.

He was well loved by his family and friends.

He was born on September 4, 1957 in Spokane, Washington, the son of Mildred Jeanette Guhlke and Delton William Guhlke (deceased) of Davenport, WA.

He is survived by his mother Mildred Guhlke, his wife Joann McKinnon Guhlke, his two sons Mathew Guhlke and Daniel Guhlke, granddaughter Emma Johnson and Emma’s mother Tabitha Johnson.

He was the middle brother of four children and is also survived by his oldest sister Constance Guhlke Probst and husband Steve Probst, his oldest brother William Delton Guhlke and his wife Marlena Holmes Guhlke, his younger brother Alex Henry Guhlke and his wife Brenda Brommer Guhlke along with beloved nieces Shelley Dick, Kristy Guhlke Barnes, Annie Guhlke, Sarah Guhlke and nephew Thomas Guhlke.
Craig grew up on the family wheat farm and cattle ranch in Davenport, WA and graduated from Davenport High School in 1975.

He received a three year Electronics Degree from Spokane Community College in 1978 where he met his wife, Joann and married her on September 16, 1978.

He worked as a farmer’s hired hand for many years for several farmers in Eastern Washington before moving to Yakima in 1989.

He was involved with Alcohol Anonymous and had over 11 years of sobriety.

In 1995 he began working for A&B Plastics (now Pexco) in Yakima, WA, a job that he liked, was known as a hard worker, and was well liked by his co-workers.

Pain from Pseudogout (so named because symptoms are similar to Gout) and Arthritis caused him to give up his job in December of 2014.

He qualified for full disability the following July in 2015, but missed working and was disheartened over his abilities to do less and less in his daily life.

Craig and his wife Joann attended Living Springs Church in Gleed, WA.

He was caring, willing to help out, and not judgmental.

He enjoyed talking to his family, neighbors and friends on a regular basis who will all miss him tremendously.

His hobbies included fishing, where he excelled in catching sturgeon in the Columbia River with his friend Earl Stacy; hunting, especially with his brothers every fall; working on computers and was the family’s go-to for computer/electronic problems; collecting music; and working around the house and yard.

He was very happy when he had helped someone or finished a job.

He enjoyed walks with his granddaughter Emma and dog Gizzy.
