Obituary: Zambryski, Pauline K.

Age 63

ZAMBRYSKI, Pauline K.

Pauline passed away at Holy Family Hospital on April 13, 2016, surrounded by family and friends.

Pauline was born in Spokane Washington on November 1, 1952, to Herbert and Burness Carlson.

She attended University High School, graduating in 1971 and continued her education at Eastern Washington University, where she received a BA in Education.

She later obtained her Master of Education at Whitworth College.

Pauline married Michael Zambryski on July 8, 1978.

They have two children Elizabeth and Nicholas and five grandchildren.
Pauline began her teaching career at Rogers High School in the Special Education Department and then moved to Salk Middle School, where she worked on her Principal’s Credentials.

After receiving her Principal’s Credentials she worked at Shadle Park High School as an Assistant Principal.

Her love for teaching children eventually called her back to the classroom and she returned to Rogers High School in the Special Education Department.

She remained lifelong friends with many of her co-workers and students until her final day.
Pauline’s greatest joys in life were children and animals.

Not only was she a mother, but a best friend to Liz and Nick.

Later in life she was blessed with five grandchildren, Riley, Madeline, Cannon, Katherine and Harper.

Pauline was never able to go more than a few days without having at least one of the grandchildren with her.

Pauline suffered for many years with Scoliosis and in 2013 underwent major spinal surgery.

She returned to Rogers High School in August to prepare for the school year and found she would not be able to endure the long days.

Regrettably, she retired, but was then able to spend the majority of her time with her grandchildren.

Pauline now had five new students to teach.

She enjoyed taking them to the movies, shopping for clothes, swimming in the pool, playing games, arts and crafts, or just having fun.
In 2015, Pauline was diagnosed with cancer and once again, endured surgery and the ill effects of the cancer treatment.

On April 3, 2016, Pauline was admitted to the hospital and after twelve days of cardiac and respiratory treatments she succumbed to her illness.

Pauline is survived by her husband Michael, her daughter Elizabeth and her husband Mathew Roberson and their children Cannon and Katherine, her son Nicholas and his wife Jamie and their daughters Riley, Madeline and Harper.

She is also survived by her sister Joanna May of LaConner Washington.

The family would like to thank the many relatives, friends, former co-workers and students that visited Pauline in the hospital and the caregivers at Holy Family Hospital.

We are very grateful for the many calls to our family.

Pauline touched many lives in Spokane.
A memorial service will be held on April 23, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. at the Calvary Church, located in the Fairwood Shopping Center, 511 W. Hastings Rd Spokane, WA.

The service will be officiated by Pastor Happy Watkins.
