Hart index shows strong growth for Inland NW companies

The Inland Northwest’s publicly traded companies had a strong first quarter.

The Hart Capital Inland Northwest Index rose 12.1 percent over the first three months of 2016, topping the S&P 500’s 0.8 percent growth in the same period. The Hart Capital index tracks 10 of the largest public companies in the region, and is compiled by Spokane-based Hart Capital Management Inc.

Hecla Mining Company led the index with a 47.1 percent increase in its stock price, followed by Red Lion Hotels Corp. at 20.3 percent and Itron Inc. at 15.3 percent.
