Liberty Lake police blotter: Thefts and fraud on the rise in Liberty Lake
Reports of theft and fraud rose in Liberty Lake recently, with several new cases now under investigation by police.
A resident in the 24000 block of East Bergamont Court called the Liberty Lake Police Department on April 11 to report that someone had used his personal information to obtain an online loan for $1,270.
That same day, a motorcycle valued at $1,500 was reported stolen from the 20000 block of East Nora Avenue and a car was reported stolen in the 24000 block of East Spotted Owl Lane. The car was recovered later in the day, but several valuable items were missing from inside, police Chief Brian Asmus said.

April 12: An abandoned vehicle was reported on private property in the 1700 block of North Cirque Lane. It belonged to a person with several arrest warrants and was towed. A burglary was reported in the 600 block of North Pack Trail.
April 13: A woman in the 1600 block of North Carson Range Street called police to report she couldn’t find her 2-year-old daughter. The girl was found hiding under blankets inside the home.
April 16: A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1200 block of North Liberty Lake Road just before 11 a.m. Items valued at more than $500 were reportedly stolen.
Arrests: Police made one arrest for theft, one for assault, one on warrants for assault and harassment, one for reckless driving, one for driving with a suspended license and two for driving under the influence.
Citations: Officers handed out two citations for speeding. Additional citations were given for failure to show proof of liability insurance, failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and use of a cell phone.
