A man who led North Idaho law enforcement on an extensive chase Tuesday was captured early Friday in Spokane.

The North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force arrested J. Scott Salmond, 46, of Riverside, California, on probation violation charges, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Salmond was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle when he led deputies and Idaho State Police troopers on a chase Tuesday. He allegedly rammed a patrol car before driving to the area of Cougar Gulch Road in Coeur d’Alene and fleeing into the nearby woods on foot.

An ISP trooper fired shots during the chase with Salmond. That shooting is still under investigation and the trooper is on administrative leave, the release said.

Salmond is in the Spokane County Jail awaiting extradition to Idaho.
