Yamamoto has goal, two assists in USA’s 10-3 win over Canada

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Kailer Yamamoto of the Spokane Chiefs had a goal and two assists to help lead the United States to a 10-3 victory over Canada in the bronze-medal game at the IIHF U18 world ice hockey championship Sunday.

Yamamoto finished with seven goals to match the team high and six assists in seven games for 13 points, third-most in the tournament.

The U.S matched its most lopsided victory margin over Canada in U18 history in earning a medal for a tournament-record 12th time.

Finland, which defeated the U.S. 4-2 in the semifinals, defeated Sweden 6-1 for the gold medal.
