Roast House is dropping its F-Bomb Cold Brew Coffee.

In development for a year and available this week, the ready-to-drink coffee beverage comes in 12-ounce bottles. Ingredients are simple: Roast House’s organic, fair-trade F-Bomb coffee, filtered water and organic, fair-trade, unbleached sugar.

Cold brew is steeped, typically at room temperature, for anywhere from 12 to 24 hours. Using water at the lower temperature extracts flavors more slowly than hot water. The process produces a less acidic, more concentrated coffee drink that many find easier on the stomach than other kinds of brewed coffees – and tastes smoother and sweeter.

Roast House general manager Josie Di Bernardo worked with the team at Orlison Brewing to develop the drink. The two local businesses have partnered for the past two years on Orlison’s Roast House Coffee Vanilla Stout and plan to continue to collaborate on the new cold brew. The plan is to eventually move production from the roastery to the larger brewery. In the meantime, Di Bernardo brews, labels and bottles F-Bomb Cold Brew Coffee by hand.

Roast House, founded by her mother, Deborah Di Bernardo, opened in early 2010 and specializes in organic coffees that are grown sustainably by farmers who receive fair prices for their crops. Beans are roasted in small batches at their facility, 423 E. Cleveland Ave., Suite C, in Spokane. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Main Market in downtown Spokane and Huckleberry’s Natural Market on South Monroe Street will be the first grocery stores to carry the F-Bomb Cold Brew Coffee along with other select locations, including Italia Trattoria and The Park Bench in Manito Park.

F-Bomb Cold Brew Coffee will also be sold at Kendall Yards Night Market on alternating weeks starting May 18, and at the South Perry Street Farmer’s Market on Thursdays in May starting May 5 as well as in June, September and October.
