Obituary: Cotant, Larry Joe

Age 75

COTANT,
Larry Joe

Larry Joe Cotant passed away on January 22, 2016 at the age of 75 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA.

He graduated from Cody High School, NE in 1957.

In 1959 he married the love of his life, Kay Pourier.

To this union they had four children, two daughters and two sons.

Larry was a truck driver by trade but to all who knew him, he was a jack of all trades.

Larry moved his family out to Spokane in 1968 to pursue a better job opportunity.

It was during that time he taught Kay how to drive a semi truck causing him to say ‘Never again will I teach anyone to drive!’

Larry enjoyed many hobbies.

He loved to be surrounded by his family and it was not uncommon to see him getting down on the living room floor to rough house with his great-grandchildren.

He was always there to offer a helping hand to someone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Kay of 56 years; daughters LaWayna (Ben) Smith and Kaylene Degenstein; son Kenny Cotant; granddaughters, Jessica (Ryan) Benge, Leslie Smith and Melissa Cotant; great-grandchildren, Jensen and Greysen Benge and Lillian Melgaard; sisters Arlene Dahlgrin and Helen (Ralph) Ballard; brother Leslie (Deb) Cotant; and brothers-in-law, William (Carol) Pourier and Don Gardner; dear friends Tracy McClendon, Sherri Cotant, Buster Wiles and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son Larry Lee; his brother Lance; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gardner and Ruth Brown, and brother-in-law Bill Dahlgrin.
A Celebration of Larry’s life will be held on May 3, 2016 at the Spokane Valley Eagles from 10:00am to Noon with interment at Riverside Memorial Park, 211 N. Government Way, at 4:00 pm.
