SCHELL, Robert William
(Age 91)

Robert William Schell passed away March 26, 2016, in the family home with family by his side.

He was born in Wild Rose, ND on June 11, 1924 and grew up on the family farm in Crosby, ND.

In his teens the family moved to Chattaroy, WA, where he then graduated from Riverside High School.

He was drafted into the Navy at the end of WWII, did his basic training at Farragut and spent one and one half years as a machinist aboard the USS Strickland.

He met the love of his life, Juanita Losada, while on leave In Newark, NJ, and married her in 1950.

When they returned to Spokane, he worked on the construction of Kaiser Aluminum.

He then began a 32 year career at Anderson Miller / Alumax Irrigation Products, starting out in the shipping department, and retiring as materials manager.

Upon retiring he bought a small farm in Greenacres, WA, where he logged, raised cattle and grew hay.

He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Jesse Schell; brother Jim; and sisters Elenor and Mary.

He is survived by his wife Juanita; sons Dale Schell, David (Linda) Schell, Roger (Carla) Schell; daughters Diane (Rick) Borland, Allison (Tim) Buckley; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He loved to work at the farm, spend time with his family, and enjoyed fishing.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 30, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Horizon Hospice of Spokane or the St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
