The Dirt: Medical office building going up in Kendall Yards

By Treva Lind correspondent

A $4.5 million project now underway will build a three-story medical office building in Kendall Yards.

The 38,000-square-foot facility will house primary care services for both Providence Medical Group and Columbia Medical Associates. Under long-term leases, the two health care groups each are taking a floor in the new building at 546 N. Jefferson Way, north of Summit Parkway.

The third floor is still available for lease by a complementary medical group, Greenstone Corp. said in a news release.

The release said Providence will develop a primary care clinic for Kendall Yards. On Columbia Medical’s floor, more than a dozen primary care providers will initially move into the space, as well as behavioral health and sports medicine services, said Kelly Stanford, president of Columbia Medical Associates.

Baker Construction & Development is building the structure for Liberty Lake-based North Gorge Commercial Partners LLC, an affiliate of developer Greenstone Corp.

In Spokane and Stevens counties, Providence Medical Group includes 700 physicians and advanced practitioners. Columbia Medical, a fully owned subsidiary of Group Health Cooperative, offers a regional integrated multispecialty group practice.

A fourth fire station for Coeur d’Alene

Coeur d’Alene soon will get its fourth fire station, which will be built just north of West Hanley Avenue.

Construction is scheduled to start next week on a one-story, 7,000-square-foot structure, located at 6570 N. Atlas Road. The estimated project value is $1.2 million. Longwell + Trapp Architects, of Hayden, is the designer.

The city plans to hire nine firefighters for the station, which is scheduled to open by Dec. 1. City voters earlier approved a public safety bond measure that included $600,000 for a new firetruck for that station, and its construction will be funded from city development impact fees.

WinCo Foods has plans in Moses Lake

In Moses Lake, the WinCo Foods chain has purchased a 21-acre property on the northwest corner of Stratford and Valley roads to build a grocery store.

Jeff K. Johnson and Chris Bell, both of Black Commercial, handled the transaction.
