A giant egg has been swiped from the Discovery Playground in Spokane Valley for the third time since the park opened in 2010.

The cream-colored fiberglass egg is about 2 feet high and 2 1/2 feet long. It is one of three eggs children can play on in the playground designed for children of all ages and physical abilities.

Two eggs were taken in 2010, but were quickly returned after a citizen spotted them. All three eggs disappeared a month ago, but they were again quickly found and returned. The missing egg was noticed Thursday morning, said Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation Director Mike Stone.

A 5-foot-tall, yellow fiberglass inchworm was stolen from the playground in 2011. It was never recovered, Stone said.
