Moses Lake police rescue two men after car crashes into canal

Associated Press

MOSES LAKE – An 18-year-old driver was seriously injured when his car crashed into an irrigation canal in Moses Lake early Sunday.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said the driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was eventually flown to a hospital in Spokane. His 19-year-old passenger received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Four Moses Lake police officers jumped into swift-moving waters and rescued the two Moses Lake men after their car crashed through a railing and rolled onto its roof in the canal.

One officer suffered a minor hand injury during the rescue.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
