Quarterback Charles Dowdell re-signs with Spokane Empire

The Spokane Empire have signed quarterback Charles Dowdell to their 2017 IFL roster.

Dowdell (QB, 6-0, 200, Saginaw Valley State) started all 16 regular season games for the Empire last season and led Spokane to a 12-4 regular season record, an Intense Conference Championship victory, and an appearance in the United Bowl.

Dowdell completed 263 of 425 pass attempts (61.9 percent) for 2,738 yards and tied for first in the IFL with 63 touchdown passes during the regular season. He earned second-team All-IFL honors.

The Empire also announced the signing of free-agent offensive lineman Jonah Austin.

Austin (OL, 6-6, 330, Nicholls State) joins the Empire for his first year as a member of the IFL. During his senior season at Nicholls State.
