Pools in Spokane and Spokane Valley are going to the dogs this weekend to give pups a chance to frolic before the pools close for the year.

Five pools in Spokane will have swim sessions for pups, for $10 each. All dogs must have proof of rabies vaccination. The city and SpokAnimal will team up for the sessions, with a portion of proceeds going to High Bridge Dog Park.

The Spokane swims are 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday at Comstock pool, 600 W. 29th Ave.; 5:30-7 p.m. Monday at Shadle pool, 2005 W. Wellesley Ave.; 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday at Hillyard pool, 2600 E. Columbia Ave.; 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at Cannon pool, 1900 W. Mission Ave.; and 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 1 at Liberty pool, 1300 E. Fifth Ave.

Spokane Valley will have separate swim sessions for large and small dogs Sunday at the Valley Mission Pool, 11123 E. Mission Ave. Dogs up to 65 pounds swim 1-1:45 p.m. and those 66 pounds and up swim 2-2:30 p.m.

Dogs must be at least 6 months old and be spayed or neutered, and proof of rabies vaccination must be provided. All dogs must be on a 6-foot leash when not in the pool.

The cost for the Spokane Valley swim sessions is $5, and registration is required by calling (509) 688-0300.
