Passing motorists pull teen from flipped car in ditch

Associated Press

PRINEVILLE, Ore. – A Prineville teenager is safe after two passing motorists helped her escape her vehicle, which has flipped over in an irrigation canal.

KTVZ-TV reports that the teen was driving Monday morning when her vehicle drifted off the road and onto the shoulder, when she tried to bring the car back onto the road she lost control, crossing both lanes of travel and rolling over into the canal.

Two motorists who saw the crash helped free the girl from the car by reclining the driver’s seat and cutting her free from the seat belt with a knife. The girl was taken by private car to a hospital for minor injuries.

The girl says she started drifting off the road when trying to switch the radio station.
