Thieves in Liberty Lake on the prowl for tools

Tools were apparently a hot commodity for vehicle prowlers last week in Liberty Lake as vehicle owners reported thousands of dollars in tools missing.

The biggest loss was in the 1800 block of North Pepper Lane. A man called police just before 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 2 to report that more than $10,000 in tools were stolen from his work vehicle.

A resident in the 1900 block of North Cavalier Road reported on Dec. 3 that someone had broken into his locked vehicle and taken a saw and impact drill overnight. The same day a man in the 1700 block of North Aladdin Road reported that a bag of tools and other items were stolen from his truck.

Nov. 29: A caller reported a suspicious person outside Liberty Lake Elementary School who was walking around looking inside windows. Officers contacted a man who said he was the custodian and was doing a security check of the building.

Nov. 30: A resident in the 23000 block of East Maxwell Court reported that someone had fraudulently used their credit cards to buy nearly $2,300 worth of items.

Dec. 1: Fraud was reported in the 1400 block of North Meadowwood Lane. A business reported that someone had “hacked” their computers and obtained $2,500 in PayPal gift cards.

Dec. 3: A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1800 block of North Holl Boulevard. The resident reported the theft of a .357 caliber pistol and a hunting bow stolen from his vehicle.

Dec. 4: A vehicle theft was reported in the 1800 block of North Pepper Lane.
