Q: Let’s start out with a tough one. It’s time to eat. What’s the go-to meal, who cooks it or is it from a restaurant?

Jordan Mathews: A place called Barney’s in California I go to a lot. I’m getting a Barney’s western bacon burger with truffle fries and an Oreo milkshake. That’s offseason, though, that’s like my offseason treat a couple times. After that it’s back to the regular regimen.

Q: Estimated calories?

JM: Oh somewhere in the high thousands.

Q: Pre-game rituals, what do you have to do before you take the floor for every game?

JM: I have to eat a full banana and I have to drink at least a half a bottle of coconut water before I play.

Q: How long have you done those things?

JM: It started early my sophomore year. I was getting headaches before games and I started eating a banana and drinking coconut water and it just gives me that last burst of energy before we start the game that carries over for most of the first half.

Q: How many basketball shoes do you own and what’s the go-to pair that stands out above the rest?

JM: I have about 40 pairs of basketball shoes and the go-to, that’s tough. I’m going to have to say the Kobes, any version of Kobes I’ll wear. I’m wearing the Kyries right now. I’m saving the Kobes for a special game.
