RENO, Nev. – Nevada’s Marcus Marshall has been named the Mountain West Conference basketball player of the week after scoring a season-high 32 points, including the game-winner with 0.2 seconds remaining, to knock off Washington 87-85.

The senior guard from Saint Paul, Minnesota added four rebounds and three assists, and scored nine of Nevada’s final 11 points to help defeat the Pac 12 team in Seattle Sunday night.

Marshall sat out last season after transferring from Missouri State. He hit 11 of 24 shots from the field Sunday, including three 3-pointers, and made all seven of his free-throw attempts. He’s averaging 20.4 points per game on the season.

His teammate, sophomore forward Jordan Caroline, claimed last week’s league honor.

The 8-2 Wolf Pack are off to their best start since finishing 29-5 in 2006-07. They host UC Irvine Wednesday night.
