There’s nothing to respect

Born in 1920, I was taught very early to respect the office of the president. But I learned even presidents can err. Thus, respecting the office of president does not always mean respecting the person who fills it. I became old enough to understand, then, though degree of respect differed, I respected each of the twelve men who followed President Hoover.

Due to lies told by Donald Trump and his horribly un-American words and actions prior to the election, I find nothing about him to respect. Trump’s choices for people to support him, his ignorance of worldly conditions and affairs, his stubbornness and lack of compassion indicate my respect will be only for the office. Nonetheless, I will give him every possible chance to prove himself.

The Bible shows we must obey our leaders, that Trump’s presidency is God’s will and so with or without respecting him I will obey the laws of our nation. I hope and pray Trump also does.

Pray? It’s useless to pray without believing. I pray Trump understands: (1) As we sow, so shall we reap, (2) The underlying principle of yin/yang, and (3) What goes around comes around.
