KALISPELL – A Salvation Army worker has found a gold coin amid contributions collected in Montana.

A collectors coin was also donated to a Willamette Valley red kettle at the Salvation Army Kroc Corps Community Center in Keizer, Oregon, on Saturday, according to the Statesman-Journal.

According to the Statesman-Journal, the lone 1915 gold bullion coin, which contains 0.9802 ounces of gold, was anonymously left in a red kettle on the Macy’s sky-bridge. The coins are worth about $1,100.

In Montana, Daily Inter Lake reported that Lt. Kabrina “KB” Hall found the American Buffalo gold coin on Friday while counting red kettle donations from the Harvest Foods collection site in Bigfork, Montana.

Hall says Kalispell is her first appointment with the Salvation Army and this is the first gold coin she has found.

Two gold coins turned up during the Salvation Army’s annual collection last year: a Double Eagle gold coin in Columbia Falls and a Standing Liberty gold piece in Bigfork. The combined total of those coins was about $2,140.

Hall says she is looking forward to selling the coin to bump up the Salvation Army’s collection total.
