Donations to help abandoned animals stolen from SCRAPS

These two people are accused of stealing cash from a donation box at SCRAPS on Dec. 22, 2016. (SCRAPS)

The Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service is looking for help locating two people who stole cash from their donation box on Thursday.

The theft, which happened at 4:37 p.m., was captured on video surveillance cameras. A woman and man were in the animal receiving area of the shelter when the woman broke open the donation box. She took the cash and left the change behind, said SCRAPS public relations manager Janet Dixon.

The donations are used to provide medical treatment for homeless and abused animals taken in by the shelter.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call SCRAPS at (509) 477-2532.
