City of Spokane planning big new stormwater tank project

Spokane Mayor David Condon unveiled plans for city’s largest stormwater tank project on Monday, a 2-million gallon tank to be built to the west of City Hall and just north of the downtown Spokane Public Library.

The project will cost $32 million, and the tank will collect stormwater from much of downtown. The tank will divert stormwater from entering the Spokane River, helping the city meet pollution standards set by the federal government.

Condon called the work to build the tank “a challenging project, to say the least.”
