High Five: Neighbor thanks young helpers

Neighbor thanks young helpers

I need to write about my good neighbors.

I was shoveling my driveway and Stephen Kozubenko, a 10-year-old boy, lives across the street from me. He went to his mother to ask if he could come and help. He then came over with his shovel and his mother took mine, and they had it done very quickly.

It snowed again that night and he was over shortly after 8 a.m. to shovel.

I offered to pay him, but his mother said he can’t take money. She wants him to know you can help without pay.

He kept my driveway and walk shoveled all during Christmas break and even shoveled the night before school started.

Stephen did a great job and kept snow clear around the mailbox and walk to front door.

I also must mention Loren, who lives two doors away. He has a tractor and clears my driveway in heavy snow and after snowplows do our street.

I think we need to acknowledge good deeds of our youth. We have a lot of great young ones out there.
