Associated Press

CALDWELL, Idaho – An inmate who escaped from the Canyon County Jail in Idaho a week ago has been arrested in Ontario, Oregon.

KBOI-TV reported the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office said Jose Esteban Coronado was arrested and taken Saturday morning to the Malheur County Jail.

Authorities said Coronado cut through the exterior wall of a tent housing unit and escaped a week ago. He had been jailed for violating a no-contact order and a U.S. immigration detainer.

Sheriff Kieran Donahue said Coronado is facing felony escape charges.

Several agencies including the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Ontario Police Department and the Oregon State Police assisted in Coronado’s arrest.
