Area roundup: EWU’s Coleman, Tarbert earn Big Sky track and field honors

After impressive performances at last week’s Montana State University Invitational, Eastern Washington senior Kaytlyn Coleman and sophomore Rebecca Tarbert were named Big Sky Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Coleman set a school record in the weight throw after reaching a distance of 66 feet, 5 3/4 inches, and she also won the shot put with a mark of 47-9. Tarbert won the 60-meter dash in 7.58 seconds and claimed the 200 in 24.80 seconds. This is the second time this season Coleman and Tarbert have received the weekly track honors.

Yamane receives NWC honor

Whitworth junior Jacob Yamane was named the Northwest Conference Baseball Position Player Student-Athlete of the Week after guiding the Pirates to a 4-0 start to the season.
