People: Jennifer Lawrence donating $2 million to hometown hospital

Actress Jennifer Lawrence is donating $2 million to a Kentucky hospital where she visited sick youngsters during a recent holiday trip home.

The Oscar winner, a Louisville native, announced by video Friday that she’s giving the money to establish the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital in her hometown, the Courier-Journal reported.

Lawrence said she and her family have met wonderful children at the hospital, and said their “strength and courage is inspiring.”

Concert postponements for Barry Manilow after surgery

Barry Manilow has been forced to postpone two concerts following a rough week of oral surgery.

Manilow had surgery twice earlier this week, and still managed to make a concert Wednesday in Memphis, Tennessee. But after that, he was brought back to Los Angeles for surgery Friday when complications developed.

A Kentucky concert Thursday was postponed, along with a Nashville, Tennessee, show Friday.

Manilow’s doctors say they expect no further complications, but spokeswoman Victoria Varela said for two days, he’s been instructed not to talk or sing.

Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum becomes dad to baby boy

Singer Charles Kelley of the country group Lady Antebellum and his wife, Cassie Kelley, announced the birth of their first child, Ward Charles Kelley.

The birth announcement was posted Thursday on Womanista.com, a website Cassie Kelley founded. The baby boy was born Thursday at 9:20 a.m. Central, weighing 7 pounds, 9 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long.

The Kelleys said in a statement he had “his momma’s nose and daddy’s eyes and vocal chords and a head full of blond hair.”

Kelley just released his debut solo album “The Driver,” while the band is on a break and is nominated for a Grammy next week for best country duo/group performance for the album’s title song.
