Former Spokane insurance agent suspected of theft

A former Spokane insurance agent is facing theft charges for allegedly transferring insurance premiums to his personal accounts. In 2013, the manager of the insurance agency Gregory Guzman worked for found evidence that Guzman was transferring insurance premiums into his personnel account, according to an Office of the Insurance Commissioner news release. Guzman is suspected of diverting seven checks totaling more than $6,100 into his personal account, according to court documents. Guzman was fired and his license was revoked in September 2014. In July 2015, the state of Maine revoked his license to sell insurance, according to records from Maine’s Bureau of Insurance. Reached by phone Monday evening, Guzman denied the allegations but declined further comment.
