Woman says she leaped from car falling into Idaho canyon

Associated Press

JEROME, Idaho – Police are investigating after a woman walked into a hospital and said she leaped from a car before it plunged into a south-central Idaho canyon.

The Times-News reports that police say the woman walked into a Twin Falls hospital Thursday and said her car went into Snake River Canyon. Police confirmed that a car had driven over the rim.

Jerome County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy Jack Johnson says it doesn’t sound like anyone was in the vehicle, but officers can’t be sure.

Police plan to reach the car by boat Friday. For now, they’re trying to find out who owns the vehicle and how it’s connected with the woman at the hospital.

Johnson says they will look for a license plate or vehicle identification number while searching the wreckage.
