Lois Marie Gockley recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Minot, North Dakota. She currently calls Fairwood Retirement Village home and has lived in Eastern Washington since 1956.

Lois met her husband, Leslie Gockley, in California. They were married in 1939. Leslie died in 2004.

Lois Gockley’s most memorable moment in history from the past 100 years is traveling with her parents through Yellowstone National Park when she was 7 years old and roads were barely developed. She also has fond memories of camping in the wilderness in the Rocky Mountains.

Gockley credits her long and healthy life to good genes, a good marriage and remembering to have fun in life.

Gockley has three children: Michael Gockley, of Spokane; Paul Gockley, of Lake Quinault, Washington; and Mary Kabanuch, of Mesa, Arizona. She also has four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
