17-year-old American Pulisic gets 1st start in Bundesliga

Associated Press

Christian Pulisic, a 17-year-old American midfielder from Hershey, Pennsylvania, made his first start in the Bundesliga on Sunday in Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen.

Pulisic made his Bundesliga debut Jan. 30 as a second-half substitute and had three additional substitute appearances after that, two in the Bundesliga and one in the Europa League against Porto.

He played the first half Sunday and set up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who shot wide. Aubameyang scored in the 64th minute of the match, which then was interrupted for eight minutes when referee Felix Zwayer sent Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt to the stands for “repeated unsporting actions,” and Schmidt refused to go.
