Area roundup: GU’s Walsh wins 2nd golf tournament
Sean Walsh shot a 2-under par 70 in the final round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate tournament on Sunday, giving the Gonzaga senior his second tournament win of the season.
He finished the three rounds at 9-under 209, two strokes ahead of Chelso Barrett of TCU at the Classic Club course in Palm Desert, California.
“I was pretty excited to get my second college victory today,” the Texas native said. “I felt like going into the event that Classic Club really fit my game. I just played aggressively with a lot of confidence the entire week, which helped me make some birdies. I was also able to eliminate some mistakes that held me back earlier in the week.”
When Walsh won the Saint Mary’s Invitational earlier this season he became the first Bulldog in eight years to capture a title.

The Cougars, who got two-run home runs from Stefan Van Horn and Cameron Frost, loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth but could only push across one run.
