Passengers applaud as boy removed from plane over allergies

SEATTLE – An Arizona boy who was removed from a plane after having an allergic reaction to dogs onboard was visiting the Pacific Northwest as part of a bucket-list trip for his terminal father.

The boy’s mother Christina Fabian told KING-TV in Seattle as they were leaving the plane “people toward the back of the plane clapped.”

She says her 7-year-old son Giovanni started to get hives as they were boarding the Allegiant Air flight to from Bellingham, Washington, to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

The crew initially allowed the family to change seats but later asked them to get off the plane.

The boy’s father, George Alvarado, has terminal cancer and the family was visiting relatives in Washington.

Allegiant said it stands by the decision to remove the boy and followed the advice of its on-call doctor.

The family returned to Arizona Wednesday night.
