Rathdrum man dies in Kootenai County Jail

A 71-year old man was found dead in the Kootenai County Jail on Monday.

The Rathdrum man was found alone and unconscious inside his cell around 4 p.m., according to a Coeur d’Alene Police Department news release. Jail deputies tried life saving measures,but medical personnel pronounced him dead on scene.

An initial investigation by Coeur d’Alene Police detectives found nothing suspicious, according to the release. The man was booked into jail on Friday for on a DUI charge and was scheduled to be released Monday. Police said they were withholding the man’s name pending family notification.
