Shoshone County employee resigns during investigation into missing evidence

A Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office employee has resigned in the middle of an investigation into missing evidence.

The Sheriff’s Office discovered a “discrepancy” in inventory for the property and evidence room in November 2015, the office said in a Facebook post. Items on the inventory list were missing from the room, so the office sealed the room and asked the Idaho State Police to investigate.

Undersheriff Rod Plank said the employee who resigned was one of several who ISP interviewed because they had access to the storage room. The employee was a civilian, he said.

Plank declined to release the employee’s name or say what was removed from the evidence room because the investigation is ongoing.
