Boys basketball roundup: Republic pulls away to beat Odessa-Harrington

Aaron Fritts had 22 points and 13 rebounds and Adrian McCarthy added 21 points and 10 boards as Republic surged ahead after halftime and beat Odessa-Harrington 68-44 in a Northeast 1B game Saturday in Republic.

Jordan Gatenby added 10 points and Jasper Summy grabbed 12 rebounds for the Tigers (10-2, 6-1), who outscored Odessa-Harrington (1-9, 1-4) 47-22 in the second half after trailing by a point at halftime.

The Titans’ Colton Hunt scored 18 of his game-high 24 points in the second half.

Republic has three games this week against elite 1B teams, including a matchup with Almira/Coulee-Hartline next Saturday in Coulee City.

Wellpinit 68, Selkirk 52: Cedric Bowen scored 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting and Brandon Flett added six points, 12 rebounds and four blocks to lead the Redskins (8-2, 4-1) past the visiting Rangers (8-4, 4-3). Selkirk’s Jacob Couch scored 20 points and Logan Miller added 18.

Cusick 79, Valley Christian 55: Tyson Shanholtzer scored 18 points and Cameron Cotter added 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench in Cusick’s win over visiting Valley Christian (5-6, 3-3). Joe Cutshall and Dylan Hendershott added a combined 26 points for Cusick (4-6, 4-3), which used a 21-7 second-quarter run to take control. Valley Christian’s Chase Strunk scored 17 points and James Segalla added 15.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 79, Inchelium 16: Dallas Isaak led four players in double figures with 19 points and added seven assists as the Warriors (10-0, 6-0) overwhelmed the Hornets (2-6, 1-5) in Coulee City. Almira/Coulee-Hartline’s Payton Neilsen added 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Columbia 46, Northport 27: Corbin Nelson scored 19 and J.R. Steele and Grant Jones added a combined 21 as the Lions (1-8, 1-5) topped the host Mustangs (0-9, 0-6). Chris Hill had nine points and 14 rebounds for Northport, but the Mustangs were held to a single point in the third quarter.

Great Northern

Pullman 55, Cheney 44: James Miles had 16 points and four steals and Jared Anderson added 14 points and six rebounds as the Greyhounds (10-1, 3-1) opened the game on a 23-9 run and held on to beat the visiting Blackhawks (4-6, 0-5). Cheney’s Ty Graham scored 11.

Northeast 2B

Northwest Christian 63, Colfax 33: David Olds scored 16 points and Ryan Ricks added 13 points, nine rebounds and six assists as the Crusaders (10-2, 8-0) took control early in an easy win over the visiting Bulldogs (8-5, 3-4). Northwest Christian jumped ahead 18-8 in the first quarter and led 33-18 at the half. Dustyn Hall led Colfax with eight points.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 68, Kettle Falls 26: Jacob Saetre scored 22 points and Dylan Becker and Wyatt Roettger each added 11 as the Broncos (7-5, 6-2) forced 25 turnovers in a win over the Bulldogs (3-8, 2-5). Kettle Falls’ Kyle Keenan and Deacon Cook scored seven points apiece.

St. George’s 61, Reardan 38: Collin Cremers scored 15 points and Erik Farias added 14 as the Dragons (9-5, 4-3) opened the game on a 25-2 run and eased past the host Indians (2-10, 1-5). Reardan’s Jordan Rohweder scored 10.

Southeast 1B

Colton 54, St. John-Endicott 46: Grant Kinzer scored 18 points, Brady Chadwick added 13 and the Wildcats took control late in a win over the Eagles (2-9, 0-5) at St. John. The game was tied at 40 after three quarters, but Colton outscored SJE 14-6 in the fourth. The Eagles were led by Adam Blakeley’s 24 points.

Garfield-Palouse 62, Pomeroy 54: Matt Holbrook led three players in double figures with 19 points and the Vikings (11-1, 5-1) topped the host Pirates (7-4, 3-2). Pomeroy’s Kade Gingerich scored 12.

Liberty Christian 81, Oakesdale 36: Chris Kelly made seven 3-pointers and scored 31 points to help guide the Patriots past the Nighthawks (3-9, 1-5) in Richland. Mitch Godwin and Cameron Godwin each added 10 points for Liberty Christian. Oakesdale’s Parker Perry scored 10.

Central Idaho

St. Maries 53, Orofino 35: Dakota Wilson scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter and Kiefer Gibson added nine points and eight rebounds as the Lumberjacks (9-1, 2-0) clipped the visiting Maniacs. Orofino’s Hayden Wilson scored 15.

Nonleague

Newport 49, Timberlake 32: Kyler Zorica scored 19 points and Koa Pancho added 11 as the Grizzlies (8-3) grabbed control from the outset in a win over the Tigers (2-5) at Spirit Lake. Brandon Hausladen and Brayden Smith scored 10 apiece for Timberlake, which fell behind 33-11 at the half.

Davenport 52, Prescott 23: Layne Smith led a balanced offensive attack with 12 points and the Gorillas (6-7) topped the visiting Tigers. Peyton Buchanan, Peyton Van Pevenage and Nathan Hopkins all added eight points for Davenport, which put the game away with a 20-2 third-quarter run. Prescott’s Reshaun Crockett scored 11.
