Men’s basketball roundup: Top-ranked Whitworth coasts past George Fox

Christian Jurlina had 17 points and seven rebounds and George Valle added 17 points and six rebounds as top-ranked Whitworth coasted past George Fox 91-57 in a Northwest Conference game Saturday in Newberg, Oregon.

The Pirates’ A.J. Grant added 12 points, Drew Sears had 11 and Kenny Love and Derek Isaak each chipped in 10.

Whitworth was coming off an 81-77 overtime-win at Willamette on Friday.

Thomas Rico led George Fox (5-10, 2-4) with 12 points.

The Pirates (15-0, 6-0) host NWC foe Pacific Lutheran on Friday.

CC Spokane 95, Blue Mountain 83: Levi Taylor led six players in double figures with 19 points and the Sasquatch (17-2, 3-0) topped the Timberwolves (9-9, 0-3) in a Northwest Athletic Conference game in Pendleton, Oregon.

Taylor made 8 of 12 shots, including 3 of 4 3-pointers. CCS’ Jacob DeVries added 15 points and 10 rebounds, Race Martin scored 18 and Garrett Hull chipped in 12 points and eight boards.

The Sasquatch made 13 of 13 from the free-throw line, including all nine of their attempts in the second half.

Blue Mountain’s Rayfield Bell had 26 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals.

CC Spokane got 38 points from their bench players and held a 52-34 rebounding edge.

The Sasquatch host NWAC foe Walla Walla on Wednesday at Spokane Falls Community College.

North Idaho 84, Southern Idaho 71: Brayon Blake had 24 points and eight rebounds and Trey Burch-Manning added 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists as the Cardinals (21-0, 6-0) topped the Golden Eagles (15-6, 3-3) in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game in Twin Falls.

Lucas Antunex and Kyle Guice added a combined 21 points for NIC, which made 21 of 27 free throws.

Shaq Carr led a balanced Golden Eagle attack with 13 points and six assists.

The Cardinals host Colorado Northwestern on Thursday.
