Whitworth remains No. 1 in Top 25 poll

The Whitworth men’s basketball team (15-0 overall and 6-0 in the Northwest Conference) survived in overtime at Willamette last Friday and remains the No. 1 team in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll of NCAA Division III college basketball teams.

The poll, released Monday, gave the Pirates 14 first-place votes and just enough overall votes of 602 to stay ahead of No. 2 Elmhurst with 588 points. Augustana is No. 3.

Whitworth is home Friday against Pacific Lutheran at 8 p.m. and on Saturday against Puget Sound at 6 p.m. The looming Northwest Conference battle at No. 16 Whitman will be Feb. 2.
