Boys basketball roundup: Maine guides Freeman past Medical Lake

Ryan Maine made 9 of 15 shots, including 6 of 11 3-pointers, and scored 29 points to help lead Freeman past Medical Lake 66-53 in a Northeast A League game Tuesday night in Freeman.

Maine made 5 of 6 free throws late in the fourth to help seal it for the Scotties. Michael Coumont added 17 points and Jack Pauckert chipped in 11 points and 10 assists for Freeman, which made 14 of 24 3-pointers.

Jaelon Stith led Medical Lake (8-5, 5-3) with 30 points, with 13 coming in the first quarter. He made 12 of 15 shots and grabbed six rebounds. Cory Wagner, who dropped 41 against Riverside last Saturday, was held to just four.

The win kept Freeman (11-3, 7-1) atop the Northeast A League standings. The Scotties play second-place Lakeside in Nine Mile Falls on Friday.

Lakeside 84, Chewelah 49: Dylan Strouse made six 3-pointers and scored 19 points and Gunnar Swannack added 19 points and nine rebounds as the Eagles (10-3, 6-1) routed the Cougars (2-12, 1-7) in Nine Mile Falls. Cameron Gay added 18 points and seven assists for Lakeside, which won its fourth straight. Chewelah’s Owen Baldin scored 12.

Newport 64, Colville 37: Kyler Zorica and Leslie Owen each had four 3-pointers and 16 points and the Grizzlies (11-3, 6-2) forced 20 turnovers in a win over the host Indians (3-8, 2-5). Colville’s Devin Lembcke scored 10.

Riverside 42, Deer Park 40: Jacob Harms scored 16 points and hit two free throws with 30 seconds left to help send the Rams (2-11, 1-7) past the visiting Stags (4-10, 3-5). Korey Cross added 10 points for Riverside, which snapped a five-game losing skid. Deer Park’s Austin Wisinger scored 10.

Great Northern

Clarkston 70, Pullman 56: Jett Sobotta made 8 of 10 3-pointers and finished with 26 points to help the top-ranked Bantams (14-0, 6-0) beat the host Greyhounds (11-3, 3-3). Trevon Allen added 22 points and seven rebounds for Clarkston, which jumped ahead 20-9 in the first quarter. Pullman’s Jared Anderson had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists and Jake Cillay added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

West Valley 61, Cheney 56: Daniel Wee led three players in double figures with 18 points and the Eagles (9-5, 3-3) made enough free throws down to stretch to top the visiting Blackhawks (4-9, 0-6). Cheney’s Justace Reiter scored 13 of his team-high 15 points in the Blackhawks’ fourth-quarter rally.

Northeast 2B

Northwest Christian 57, Liberty 49: David Olds led a balanced attack with 17 points and the Crusaders (13-2, 10-0) used an 18-9 third-quarter run to get past the host Lancers (14-1, 8-1). Ryan Ricks added 12 points and Ian Starkey and Asher Cox chipped in 10 apiece for Northwest Christian, which won its seventh-straight. Liberty’s Chase Burnham had 24 points and eight rebounds.

Wilbur-Creston 52, Tekoa-Rosalia 39: Dorian Jaeger made four 3-pointers and scored 23 points to help guide the Wildcats (5-8, 3-7) past the Timberwolves (3-12, 1-8) in Rosalia. Tekoa-Rosalia’s Cooper Angelo scored 13 points and Kade Holling added 10.

Northeast 1B

Wellpinit 67, Valley Christian 42: Brandon Flett had 16 points and 10 assists and Alfonso Salinas added 14 points and five steals as the Redskins (11-3, 7-2) routed the visiting Panthers (5-9, 3-6). Clayton Flett added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Redskins, which built a 21-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Valley Christian’s Chase Strunk scored 13 points and Braydon Oliver added 12.

Selkirk 67, Inchelium 44: Logan Miller scored 16 points and Jacob Couch added 14 points, 12 rebounds and three steals as the Rangers (10-5, 6-4) clipped the Hornets (3-8, 2-7) in Ione. Selkirk’s Austin Robertson added 13 points, including 10 in the Rangers’ 22-7 second-quarter run. Inchelium’s Jaden Erickson scored 14.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 72, Columbia 18: Maguire Isaak scored 17 points and Payton Nielsen added 14 points and seven rebounds to lead the Warriors (14-0, 10-0) past the Lions (1-10, 1-7) in Coulee City. Dallas Isaak added 12 points and five steals for ACH, which led 26-2 after the first quater. Columbia’s Dakota Helms scored 10.

Republic 68, Northport 19: Adrian McCarthy scored 19 points and Aaron Fritts added 18 as the Tigers (13-3, 9-2) grabbed control from the outset in an easy win over the host Mustangs (0-12, 0-9). Northport’s Aiden Middlesworth scored 12.

North Star

Genesis Prep 57, Wallace 42: The Jaguars pulled away with a 20-13 third-quarter run and beat the host Miners. Wallace’s Matt Farkas scored 12 points and Seth Dechand and Justin Bayer added 10 apiece.

Nonleague

Coeur d’Alene 56, Lakeland 42: The Vikings (12-2) pulled away with an 18-4 third-quarter run and beat the Hawks (4-10) in Rathdrum. Coeur d’Alene’s Joey Naccarato scored 19 points and Sam Matheson added 11. Lakeland’s Kaden Davis scored 12 points and Dylan Knight added five points, six rebounds and three assists.

Connell 54, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 48: The Eagles held the Broncos (9-6) scoreless for the final 3 minutes and won in Connell. Wyatt Roettger led Lind-Ritzville/Sprague with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Priest River 52, Kettle Falls 28: Thomas Luckey scored 19 points and Mason Clark added eight points and seven rebounds as the Spartans (6-5) dumped the visiting Bulldogs (4-11). Kettle Falls’ Daniel Truque scored 13.

Colton 70, Grangeville 61: Carter Dahmen hit four 3-pointers and scored 24 points to guide the Wildcats (5-8) to a win over the visiting Bulldogs (9-3). Grant Kinzer added 16 points for Colton, which made 7 of 8 fourth-quarter free throws to help hold off Grangeville. The win was the Wildcats’ fifth straight after an 0-8 start.
