GSL girls roundup: North Central holds off Shadle Park

The North Central girls basketball team was too much for the Shadle Park Highlanders in a Greater Spokane League game Tuesday at the Arena.

The Indians (5-9 overall, 5-7 league) opened a 29-20 lead by halftime.

Megan Dean led the Indians with 14 points, Sunny Ellenwood had 13 and Quincy McDeid added 11.

Abby Bauernfeind led Shadle with 17 points and Makenna Grier scored 12.

Mead 47, Gonzaga Prep 41: The visiting Panthers (8-5, 8-4) moved into a tie with University in fourth with the win over the Bullpups (5-9, 5-7). Payton Douglass led Mead with 13 points. Tayler Drynan led G-Prep with 14 and Molly McDermott added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Mt. Spokane 55, University 48: The visiting Wildcats (9-5, 7-5) made 9 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off the Titans (8-6, 8-4). Jordan Smith led Mt. Spokane with 18 points, Meghan Nilsson had 12 and Jaidyn Lyman added 10. Kaitlin Pannell led the Titans with 18.

Central Valley 65, Rogers 16: The No. 1-ranked Bears (14-0, 12-0) shot out to a 29-5 lead after the first quarter against the visiting Pirates (0-13, 0-12). Freshman Camryn Skaife led the way, scoring a game-high 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting including four 3-pointers to go with five steals. Lacie Hull had 14 and Hailey Christopher added 12.
