Outlook: Something has to give in this showdown for first place. Gonzaga’s 13-game road winning streak is the longest in the NCAA; Saint Mary’s is 13-0 at home this season. The Zags lead the WCC in scoring offense; the Gaels lead in scoring defense. The Zags are second in the conference in scoring defense, the Gaels are No. 1 nationally in field-goal percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio. Gonzaga has won the last eight in the series, including three in a row at McKeon Pavilion. The Gaels boast four players averaging double figures and four more scoring at least 5.8 points.
Wiltjer up for award
Senior Kyle Wiltjer is one of 30 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, given to a senior with notable achievements on and off the court.
Wiltjer has a 3.75 GPA as he pursues his Master’s in business administration. He has taken part in team visits to Sacred Heart and the Union Gospel Mission, read to Longfellow Elementary students and participated in a Habitat for Humanity build.
