Snoqualmie Pass and Tumwater Canyon both closed

I-90 over Snoqualime Pass and Highway 2 through Tumwater Canyon are both closed due to avalanche danger, the state Department of Transportation announced this morning.

The I-90 closure is in both directions from Milepost 34, near North Bend, east to Milepost 106 near Ellensburg. Avalanche crews will be doing control work there throughout the day.

Tumwater Canyon is closed between Milepost 99 to Coles Corner. A detour is available via Chumstick Highway for vehicles weighing 10,000 pounds or less. There is no estimated time for reopening, DOT officials say.
