Hired Boise State hired Zak Hill as its QB coach and co-offensive coordinator and promoted offensive-line coach Scott Huff to share coordinator duties with Hill. Hill spent seven seasons at Eastern Washington as the QB coach and passing-game coordinator.

Extended Football coach Brian Kelly has agreed to a six-year contract to stay on at Notre Dame through the 2021 season. Terms were not disclosed. Kelly is 55-23 at Notre Dame, a winning percentage of .705. His career winning percentage of .737 ranks seventh among active FBS coaches.

Utah football coach Kyle Whittingham received a two-year year extension to keep him through 2020. The contract pays $3.3 million per year. Whittingham has led the Utah program since 2005 and has a 95-46 record. The Utes finished 10-3 in 2015, their best finish since joining the Pac-12 in 2011.

Signed The Dodgers and free-agent 2B Howie Kendrick agreed to a $20 million, two-year contract. Kendrick batted .295 with nine home runs and 54 RBI last season.

2B Neil Walker agreed to a $10.55 million, one-year contract with the Mets. Walker batted .269 with 16 homers and 71 RBIs last season for the Pirates.

INF Maicer Izturis agreed to a minor league contract with the Blue Jays. He has not appeared in a MLB game since April 13, 2014, while recovering from left knee surgery in 2014 and shoulder surgery in 2015.

LHP Robbie Ross and the Red Sox agreed to a $1.25 million, one-year deal. Ross was 0-2 with a 3.86 ERA last year.

Honored Recently retired OF Torii Hunter and former radio announcer John Gordon were elected to the Twins Hall of Fame. The 40-year-old Hunter ranks fifth on the team’s all-time list in home runs, sixth in RBIs and seventh in games, hits, doubles and runs. The 75-year-old Gordon spent 25 seasons calling Twins games.

Recovering Athletics catcher Stephen Vogt underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow that is expected to be fully healed by opening day. A first-time All-Star last season, Vogt hit .261 with 18 homers and 71 RBIs.

Suspended UNC women’s basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell faces a two-game suspension for making contact with an official during a recent loss to Duke, as well as for an NCAA violation. The school issued a one-game suspension for the referee incident, while the NCAA issued a separate suspension for “activities that simulate game-day introductions of prospects during an official visit.”
