Woman struck, killed by car in Spokane Valley

An elderly woman struck by a car Sunday morning in Spokane Valley died at the hospital, the Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Department said.

The woman was crossing Barker Road as she walked westbound on Boone Avenue about 7:25 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a woman traveling south, the agency said.

Investigators were informed about 11:30 a.m. the elderly woman had died from her injuries. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name.

Spokane Valley traffic collision technicians were at the scene collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Authorities said they do not believe the driver was impaired, and she has not been charged.
