Wildfire burns 100 acres in Stevens County

A wildfire burned more than 100 acres near Fort Spokane in Stevens County on Sunday.

As of Sunday night, firefighters had the entire blaze surrounded by fire break. The fire was about 40 percent contained, the Washington Department of Natural Resources tweeted.

Firefighters from DNR and the Spokane Tribe responded to the fire, which burned along state Highway 25. Officials are calling it the Columbia Fire.

DNR initially said 20 structures were threatened by the fire Sunday afternoon, but later tweeted structure protection had been released.
